Fox News pulled off the air in Britain

Rupert Murdoch and his sons are pulling Fox News off the air in Britain.

The network's parent company, 21st Century Fox, has announced that the controversial news channel will no longer be broadcast in the U.K. after failing to attract an audience. The network has also become a lightning rod for critics seeking to spoil the Murdochs' planned $15 billion takeover of Sky, the top pay TV provider in the U.K.

"Fox News is focused on the U.S. market and designed for a U.S. audience and, accordingly, it averages only a few thousand viewers across the day in the U.K.," 21st Century Fox said in a statement.

"We have concluded that it is not in our commercial interest to continue providing Fox News in the U.K.," it added.

21st Century Fox (FOX) said the network's final broadcast in the U.K. would be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. local time.

The decision to jettison the network in Britain could help insulate 21st Century Fox from criticism as it seeks to win approval for its takeover of Sky.

I can only hope that Fox News US becomes so marginalized and laughed at that it becomes 'not in their commercial interests' to keep it going here....

Hey, I can dream....

I love the line "designed for a U.S. audience." Translation: "There's only one group of citizens who'll buy this bullshit."

AIn times like these, it's nice to enjoy the little things. Like a tool being fired over at Fox News.

What I really want to know is if the dick pics (dick pics from a fucking middle-aged man, Jesus) were of his own equipment, or if he's the kind of guy who would scour the internet for a more impressive specimen as an act of douche subterfuge. This information is important b/c this story isn't nearly as embarrassing for him as I would like it to be.

ASadly, Bolling's 19 year old son died last night. No news on the cause. Maybe suicide, as he was so young and presumably healthy.
AWow. It would be disingenuous to retract my earlier comment, but though I know it won't be heeded by all, I hope a greater number of people have the decency to let this pass without comment.

I saw a promo on Fox News about how liberals want to keep Catholics out of the courts. If that means I never have to do jury duty again, then I'm all for it.

ADouche Subterfuge

I think we've found the title of the inevitable movie version about the Trump administration..

Meanwhile, Steve Bannon is screaming that the Catholic Church is vocally supporting DACA and the Dream Act because the Vatican wants more liberal Catholics flooding America's streets. I wish all these damn liberals and Catholics would decide whose side they're on!
AIt's pretty funny watching the GOP propaganda machine engage in transparently desperate ploys to attract a demographic that's both religiously and culturally inclined to skew conservative anyway. Guys, all you had to do was stop calling Mexicans rapists and deporting them for shits and giggles!

Not Fox, but Lawrence O'Donnell had himself a "Do it live!" moment recently:

I saw that Dean Cain was on Tucker Carlson tonight. Cain is officially NOT MY SUPERMAN!

Meanwhile, she's left Fox, but Megyn Kelly's NBC rebranding is going so poorly that very, very few publicists are trying to book their clients as guests onto her morning show. Ratings are imploding too.

It's a shame that Gene Gene the Dancing Machine is gone, but we can all appreciate her attempt to honor his legacy.

I don't know if I'm extremely pleased or extremely terrified that nobody in this whole equation stopped to think that just maaaaybe years of Megyn Kelly being Fox News's go-to gal MIGHT have poisoned her brand for values of audience that equal "Don't watch Fox News."

Fox put a "Navy SEAL" who supports Trump on air, but there was a problem: he was a fake.

AApparently O'Reilly sent gay pornography to Lis Wiehl. No wonder he stumped up $32 million:

I figured Megyn Kelly would get some slack on CHUD, given that her head vaguely resembles a Star Destroyer.

I imagine they were hoping that she'd bring some of her Fox News audience with her. But somehow didn't figure in for the entire rest of the country tuning out.

I'd seen the $32 million payoff figure, but no details of why it was so high. No wonder O'Reilly would want to keep that quiet.

EDIT: "Non-consensual sexual relationship" - Jesus, those are some horrific legalese weasel words.

Bill O'Reilly told the Times that Eric Bolling's son died because of allegations against his father:

Bolling responded:

You know who Bill O'Reilly blames for his troubles? God.

No, really.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/10/23/media/bi...index.html

AGee, Bill, maybe if you're going to bitch about God being mad at you, you should think about doing less sinning.

Wouldn't it be great if conservatives, tiring of their go-to scapegoats like minorities and the poor, just started flat-out blaming God for all their troubles?

"He's always had a grudge against us! Just look at the New Testament!"

ABill O'Reilly: like Job, but without the righteousness, forbearance, or capacity for self-awareness.

No matter how shitty my day my be, at least one thing happened that put a smile on my face.

Fox News brands Radiohead "the poor man's Coldplay"

Quote:

Fox News continues its bizarre attempts at music hipsterdom, following up a segment in which comedian(?) Katherine Timpf mocked Radiohead’s entire oeuvre as "elaborate moaning and whining for ring tone sounds" with a definitive ranking of the Oxfordshire band among its contemporaries. Get ready for a rush of blood to the head, because according to arbiter of tastes Greg Gutfeld, Radiohead is a pale imitation of the Chris Martin-fronted Coldplay. "You know, Radiohead is a fine band, but they stole everything from Coldplay. Like Radiohead is the poor man’s Coldplay", Gutfeld said, on live television, with absolutely no regard for the previously established hierarchy that goes Radiohead>Travis>Muse> Coldplay>Starsailor.

Go fuck yourself, FOX NEWS.

I mean, this is like, very low in the long list of disgusting things FOX NEWS has done, but its still fucking offensive to anyone with any musical taste whatsoever.

I love Radiohead, but I can't even be angry at this.  It's just so insane that I can only laugh at them.

Of course the main demographic for Fox News has never heard of either band.
