BREAKING: Tim League has informed members of the Alamo Drafthouse staff he’s leaving the company by November 1.

League replied below saying that it's not true

AWhy would he ever take that bait?

Just ignore it.

Yeah League said it wasn't true, then that guy who broke the story started crowing about the Faraci situation and then took the highroad by deleting his tweet and claiming that the trolls were out in force.

AApparently the secret film they sprung on all the guests at Fantastic Fest today was an unreleased Ed Wood directed porno. The lack of self awareness boggles the mind.

ASounds interesting, but if it's as stultifying as Orgy of the Dead, then I'd have to give it a pass.

AHere's an official transcript of the "conversations" that are being had:

"This whole thing with Devin, bro. Seriously."

"I know, right?"

"Bro."

"Seriously."

ASomehow I think the idea that most people (specifically men, but some women too, I imagine) would be ready or willing to have that conversation at a venue for films is a tad unrealistic. That's not to say that it shouldn't happen, but I'll hazard a guess and say that the overall thought is "Well it ain't me, so I'm going to keep on keeping on."

League continues to write the book on how NOT to run a business.

ATim League is treating the Alamo Drafthouse like a metamorphical Alamo.

I think the battle is lost.

General Santa Anna's trades will pick this one up in the morning.

AThis does seem insane. They're just so incredibly full of shit.

It's like this festival is taking place in a vacuum.

They asked us to remain seated after the film while they brought a "special guest" into the room. Then they brought out an actor from the film to recreate the tension from one of the film's most unsettling moments. It was enough to just have him enter the room. We all froze and watched him pace and stare us down. And then the actor in full character started throwing chairs, and then glasses at people. And he didn't stop there. As a pregnant woman, who has also witnessed very real violence by men, I did find myself becoming increasingly nervous/protective of myself and baby, and the people I was with. We were being asked to just sit and let this happen, and maybe even laugh. More importantly, when it first started to escalate I thought "this situation requires an audience to trust that this festival is looking out for its audience, and won't let this stunt get out of hand". But as I listened to some of the men in the audience nervously laugh at the tension, and watched the actor cross more boundaries and become more authentically destructive/violent for the sake of a bit, I was stunned that the fest thought they could ask this of an audience right now.

And another woman has come forth with some horror stories.

AEvery once in a while, I'm kind of curious what's going on with Devin and google his name for news. So saw some of this and found this thread. I'm wondering, what are the general thoughts about Devin? I've been surprised he seems to have kept a low profile for like a year, then I see he was after all on the payroll. But is the thought that he should never again work anywhere? I'm not trying to justify what he did, but it wasn't work related right?

There's a lot more talk about it over in the critics thread (dozens of pages worth actually) and I think the big issue that he was secretly kept on the payroll by Alamo and it's not sure who exactly knew what. I fully expected him to come back one day and had this all not happened I would think that we had seen him writing reviews again by now. Had Tim League not handled things in the absolute worst way it would've helped Devin out in the long run. As it is now it's just made things worse.

Essentially what he did was work-related, because his work put him in a position to do it. While there's the incident where he grabbed a woman's private parts, there were other moments where he started a dialogue with women who were starting out in the field and when he wanted to fuck them and they wouldn't let him, cut off contact with them. I believe there are at least two incidents of this nature that we know of.

Aside from that, his position allowed him to be a generally shitty person and a bully to others. He proudly bragged about driving Damon Lindeolf off twitter and people generally kept quiet about it as though in this day and age there's any real difference between someone's public and private persona.
