Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Racist and Other Observations

So?  By inference, you're saying that Rush and the other conservative talk radio hosts were in on the scam.  There's absolutely zero evidence of this.

Don't get me wrong: this Lifelock thing is absolutely worthy of conversation, and these talk radio hosts are absolutely worthy of discussion and/or ridicule, but looping them together as if there were some sort of collusion between the two parties is not warranted.

Well, conservative ideology as it exists today is mostly built on trying to fuck over people, so while there might be no direct connection between RL and Lifelock, they are distant partners in crime.

AND...

it's not like this was new information....from 2010-  Lifelock Dinged $12 Million for Deceptive Business Practices

So, after this, did RL continue to accept LL's advertising money?  If so, that makes him complicit IMO.

Eh, Rush is a prick, but are we really going to parse the corporate sponsorships of every broadcasting entity so they abide by our own personal moral code?

1) That sounds fucking exhausting.

2) Expecting some kind of ideological morality from a corporation sounds awfully naive to me.

What's the matter with wanting to hold corporations/individuals responsible for there actions/endorsements?

Is a pretty tortured path to take to get to it.

Perhaps...

I just know that if I was a big time radio personality that was accepting ad $$$ from various companies, I would apply due diligence to make sure said companies were legitimate and not scamming the public.

It it turned out that said companies were employing false and deceptive business practices, I'd cut ties with them.

I have no doubt that RL doesn't give a shit as long as he gets paid.

Who cares about any complicity or not? It's not like Rush's reputation is gonna take a hit.

The fun news is that any manner of Rush potentially losing another major sponsor, be it boycott or business decision or going out of business or going to jail, is good news. No need to gild the lily.

Limbaugh himself probably doesn't even handle that stuff... not that he would care.

Yeah, I can't get up in arms about this.  If some company that was buying advertising time during The Daily Show on Comedy Central wound up getting accused of fraud, and the next day you see Fox News, Rush and everyone else getting on Jon Stewart's ass about it, my attitude would pretty much be "Oh fuck off already".  That's pretty much my attitude about this as well.

AThe snake oil that talk radio hosts sell is often hilarious. I remember hearing spots for a product that would improve your vision by apparently sheer force of will.

When LifeLock is considered a major sponsor, I think that says a lot about Rush's declining influence. There are other, louder assholes who are filling his "pander to rubes" void, most of whom are running for president.

I will admit that a lot of those ads and products are hilarious....to a point.

When the ads play into the fear and ignorance of the audience there is something wrong....

"do you have an ache in your side?.....YOU PROBABLY HAVE CANCER!"

"crime is going up....ARE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SAFE?"

"do you use the internet? as I speak, someone is STEALING YOUR IDENTITY!!!"

A huge portion of that shit just hovers right around the edge of legitimate fraud.

I've said it before, I really wish the FCC/FTC would crack down  on all these charlatans and their nefarious methods.

AVTran, you should be a copywriter.

LifeLock is a major Limbo sponsor, and he personally reads their ad copy on air. The loss of that kind of Advertiser has a material impact on his viability as a broadcaster.

All he'll have left is "The Squatty Potty" and Dental services for people who have no teeth.

The sad thing is, he's probably already done about all the damage he can do. He can retire to the Dominican Republic and buy all the Oxycontin and underage boys he wants.
