R. Lee Emery is in it, so it can't be all that bad

This doesn't really have anything to do with the remake, but it's an appropriate place to toss this up.

It's by an artist I'm really digging on by the name of Dave Hartman, I found this in his art gallery:

I've just read the Fango coverage and I’m thinking this is going to be pretty good. It sounds like they are going for lots of gore and a different ‘reimagining’ of the story. I’m glad they are doing that because there is no point in a shot by shot remake. That Balfour kid from Six Feet Under can act and Bryniarski should make a menacing Leatherface. Another of my wishes has also come true. John Larroquette is back as the narrator. Yes!

Biel ? Check. Chainsaw wielding hun? Check. Atmospheric visuals ? Check. Sick sarge ? Check. Score by Marilyn Manson ? Check.

I'm pretty sure this will surprise many people, especially those who were the loudest ones when Bay announced a TCM remake..

And the first wasn't? Blah!

I think this "remake" will be great and I'm going nuts in anticipation. What sucks is that no matter how GOOD this film turns out to be people will crap on it and never admit it's better than the original even if it is.

Of course the first wasn't a Gap commercial- what the hell are you even thinking, typing that out?

If it's good people will admit it, look what happened with The Ring. Everyone's just got some (justified) concerns about how it's going to turn out.

billylove said it.

although Ermey might just save it from being totally grabasstic... the guy's as nutty as anyone in the original TCM/TCM2. Nuttiness makes the world of TCM go round.

I'm looking forward to it even though (and I know I'm repeating myself in just about every thread) it doesn't have a release date where I live. Thought it would suck ass. Saw the trailer, read the coverage and changed my mind.

Now, the big question is, if this makes tons of cash at the BO, will they remake Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 as well?

'Nam flashback! 'Nam flashback!

Manson didn't do the score for this. Check out the morning's Corner news.

Halleluja!

No offence to any of his fans here (I like some of his music myself) but after his godawful work on From Hell (which wasn't used in the final film) and Resident Evil (the film) he shouldn't be allowed to compose another score.

Bullshit on both accounts.

First, the original was no where near a "Gap" commercial. In fact, one of the reasons I found the first to sell itself so well is that the cast looks like every day "real" people.

Sally wasn't a super model and she wasn't ugly either. Jerry was a victem of the 70's Disco Rage, and that's NEVER cool unless your name's John Travolta. Leatherface was overwieght and it showed-not a body builder, as he looks in the new remake. And Franklin-one of the main characters was not only UGLY, FAT, and CRIPPLED, but he was one of the main protaganists!!! The only place you'll see that in a big Hollywood movie, is the villians! In fact, judging from the trailer, a "clan" family member is confined to a wheelchair, and the mother(?) is extremley over-weight. Instead, the cast in the remake all look like they hit the gym religously. Not a zit anywhere on their faces.

Second, if the movie's good, we'll admit it. TCM is my ALL-Time fave horror film, but I'm holding judgement until I see the movie. I'll be first to admit if its better than the original. The Thing and the Fly are examples that remakes can surpass the original. It's very possible. But will it? We'll know soon enough.

I just finally sat down and watched the trailer. I might be a little off here but could be a shining example that not all remakes are crap.

Does anyone know if the strange, putrid, almost bordering on necrophelic "scene" with Ermey and the corpse is still in this where he decides to investigate a certain area of her anatomy?

We have no information on the soundtrack yet. I really hope it does because I really like that version but I heard that it was only a small clip especially recorded for the trailer by this singer from an unknown band.

I was one of the unbeleivers. But now I am anticipating this movie with a huge expectation.

The trailer looks great. I really love the new family. By the way, the shot of the ass is......
fucking exellent. We all look when we see a great ass, why not put on a big sceen.

Ps they did it in Cabin fever, the girl is UNBELEIVEBALE.

I'm looking forward to it myself. It looks NOT like a teen film. Fingers are upside-down crossed!

Word. That ass shot is like worth the price on it's own They also kinda did it in the original in this one scene.

The girl from Cabin Fever has nowhere near as good as an ass as Jessica Biel's But it's decent and a great shot.

"You got PAID?"

For some bizzare reason, Bryniarski has been popping up on that VH1 I love the 70s show (I don't watch the damn thing, people I live with have it on in the background). I have to say, long hair doesn't suit him.

- In the Movie Jeremiah helps Erin & Morgan(who is terribly hurt) escape the house. The only thing I'm not sure is wether this happens when Erin tried to escape the first time (and was obviously returned by the sheriff) or if it's towards the ending. Interesting ...

It was your stupid Brain ... nah it's confusing unless you know the characters name's and all. Just my assumptions, nothing more.

-Yeah I read the recent Fangoria at Borders today and it was full of great interviews and those pics were just awsome!!! But yeah the spoiler didn't do it for me (warn next time). Now I know how he/she dies ... ohwell I got that impression from the trailer anyways

Ok, the Alamo Drafthouse has given me a real reason to see this movie. Have I mentioned how much I love the Drafthouse and how much I like living in TX sometimes? This is at the same abandomed asylum that they showed Session 9, Cabin Fever (and 3 other movies) last year. I'm definitely bringing a flashlight this time so I can better explore the buildings.

http://www.alamodrafthouse.com/online_tix/show_details.asp?show_id=1165

The Drafthouse is also showing Bubba Hotep on October 24th! GO ME!!

He's actually right in a sense. One of the reasons I was opposed to the remake is that it is now filled with pretty people and ultra-slick looking. Ok, they "stole" many of the same shots but I caught TCM this wekeend (hadn't seen it in years and Scream was showing the 2 first ones) and you know what - the first one was filled with pretty people too. Except for the wheelchair guy, but then who wants a wheelchair whinner to be attractive, right? So suddenly I don't mind the pretty people. I'm still up in the air - but I'm not boycotting yet.

The new pics on Dark Horizons of Leatherface look awful. He looks like a member of ICP. Just reminds me of Bob Burns' quote about TCM2 and Savini: 'It looks like a makeup artist's vision of what a mask made of flesh would look like'. As much as I adore Savini, that quote rings true so much.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see this bad boy in action. Experience has taught me not to draw an opinion off Fangoria's choice of pics anyway.
