Most Chewers don't have a meltdown or goodbye thread, they just leave. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't.
I want to know if some Chewers have gone for good or have merely taken a break. I'm not on Facebook, so I'm not privy to all of the behind-the-scenes shit that goes on, so don't tell me to go there and catch up on things.
My first candidate:
Art Decade.
I didn't see a 'goodbye' moment or anything from him, but he hasn't posted anything for over a month. Does anybody know his status?

AI noticed he hadn't posted in a couple weeks and that his last few comments in the Depression thread were worrisome.
Merriweather as well. His avatar comment raises a red flag.

Merriweather's another great guy who is sorely missed around here. I hope he's OK.

AI would stop visiting the site for weeks at a time a few years back, when a certain former writer and forum troll would go on the warpath against the forums community, but I wasn't as active on the boards generally then as I am now.
Art Decade and Merriweather are definitely missed. They're both terrific folks. Hopefully it's just that there's less to discuss, with the summer movie season winding down.

AMerriweather's depression posts are always troubling, but he's taken lengthy breathers before so hopefully he's okay.

If anyone is able to contact either of those two guys, please let them know that we're thinking about 'em. I hope they're both okay.

AArt hasn't taken breaks like this before though, has he? I was talking about this with someone the other day and that someone said that Art is Facebook friends with some of the people on here. If they know how he is and if he's ok, would they please fill us in?
Would like to know that Merriweather is ok too..

Haven't seen that horse's ass, Devin, for a while, how's he been?
Would have been nice for Slater to show up every now and then to chat about life on the other side, but given the circumstances, too much to expect I suppose.

Wish Andre Dellamorte/Damon Houx would post more often, esp since his other web gig went belly up.
Also miss Harley.

I really miss Princess Kate and Dr. Harford. Wonder how they're doing.
<record scratch>
On a more serious note, I remember someone saying Art was leaving for good because of something someone said? Maybe I'm misremembering.

Who doesn't miss "The Princess"?
It's weird why people leave CHUD in a huff. Jake was a great poster for years, but after Nick made a joke in poor taste at a screening which got Tweeted, he (Jake) got all upset and announced he was leaving. This despite the fact that he'd made numerous, numerous jokes along the same lines on the CHUD message boards! It baffles me.

To continue our theme of missing ladies...
Wayward Woman. Sent me the nicest Christmas Exchange gift two years ago of three totally separate things that shouldn't have worked, but did.
Librarian Lady was a nice addition to the Breaking Bad thread. Maybe we haven't found the right show to bring her back in.

Speaking of Art, I believe in another thread he said he was helping his father who was going though a rough time. I agree that he is missed.
I've got good news and I've got bad news. The bad news is that I have lost my way. The good news is that I'm way ahead of schedule.

AOn the other side of the coin I was stoked when Richard Dickson and Stelios returned from the wilderness. At least I was until their first posts disagreeing with one of mine at which point I immediately placed them on ignore. Also glad to see that rapscallion Overlord back amongst us once in a while. And Rain Dog, although he's somewhat lost his patience for movie discussion and is mostly just in the VG threads these days. Always love seeing Ken Savage around too so glad he piped up in the Guardians thread.
Of course calling out specific folks is a dangerous game because a mofo can't mention everyone, but I'm a dang fool so I did it anyway.

After my post in that thread about those guys a week or so ago I PMed both of them and haven't heard back, although I'm not sure if they have their settings configured to email them PM notifications, so if they're just not checking in they don't know about no stinkin' PMs. Definitely had them on my mind though.
You know who else I miss? Bobby Bear.

Just coming here to ring my "I Miss Bobby Bear" bell. You, Bobby, Ken and Donnie (and many others) were very kind to me when I joined.
Also want to echo that I hope Merriweather and Art are doing well.

Art posted on Facebook yesterday, so I'm sure he's well. Haven't heard from Merriweather though. He's good people, hope he's alright.
I know he's considered a troll by many, but one guy I truly miss is Paul McCartney. He had a way with words that seriously cracked me the fuck up.
I might have been born yesterday sir, but I stayed up all night!

Chalk me up as someone who also misses Diva, Harley, and Werewolf Girl. (MissZooey's time here barely overlapped mine, so it's not that I wouldn't want her back...I just didn't encounter her much here.)
Phil is sorely missed, and Jake, too.
I second the sentiments about Art and Merriweather: they're missed, but primarily I just hope they're OK, whether they return or not.

McCartney is a legend. If he started a blog just to post musings on Roger Moore movies and bits of kitsch insanity, I would read it religiously.

I'm still around - ish.
My biggest problem is having a 19th month old daughter and a job that actually requires me to do real work rather than web browsing.
I lurk a lot these days but pipe up when i have something to say.
And yeah I miss a lot of the old crowd that been mentioned.

I think Diva's life has become very full and she just doesn't have time. She didn't leave in a huff or with any acrimony. But I miss all the female Chewers (an awesome few are still around).
Seconding: hope Art is well, glad Rain Dog and Overlord are back, miss Phil and Jake, miss Carl Cunningham (a friend irl). And Matchstick - but I don't think he's gone, just busy.
