So it would seem that there are some anti-choice (pro-control) 'activists' attempting to pull an 'ACORN' on Planned Parenthood.

I don't know whether to be more angry at the groups making these deceptive videos or the idea that they were delusional enough to think that they could get away with it,

3 Deceptive Edits In The Video Claiming Planned Parenthood Is "Selling Aborted Baby Parts"

A deceptive video from a conservative group purports to show a Planned Parenthood official discussing prices for the illegal sale of fetal tissue from abortions. But the full, unedited footage and transcript released by the group undermines their sensationalist claims, showing at least three crucial edits that reveal the Planned Parenthood official was instead discussing the reimbursement cost for consensual, legal tissue donations.

<goes on to give much more detail>

The Shady Anti-Choice Actors Behind The Deceptive Video Accusing Planned Parenthood Of "Selling Aborted Baby Parts"

Center For Medical Progress Has A Small And Recent Internet Footprint. CMP's presence online was nearly non-existent until several weeks ago. The group's Facebook page shows no posts before May 24 of this year and the organization didn't join Twitter until May 30. No videos other than the deceptively edited Planned Parenthood clips appear on the group's YouTube site. The website address listed on their Facebook page leads to a PostalAnnex+ in Irvine, CA instead of real organization. CMP's Founder, David Daleiden, Has A Long History With Discredited Conservative Groups

Center For Medical Progress: Daleiden Is "Founder" And Project Lead For The "Human Capital" Investigation. According to the Center for Medical Progress' website, Daleiden not only spearheaded the "Human Capital" investigation that produced the deceptively edited video attacking Planned Parenthood, he also founded the organization. Daleiden's bio also describes his past work at conservative news outlet The Weekly Standard:

AFor that very fact above, they did 'get away with it'. While I don't expect the same utter decimation ground down upon Acorn to happen to Planned Parenthood, those same gears have begun turning.

I suppose this could go in the "GOP moving forward' thread as well...

I'm sick and tired of this

| By Elizabeth Warren

The Republicans have a plan. Just look at the facts:

  • In 2013, Republicans threatened to shut down the government unless they could change the law to let employers deny women access to birth control.
  • In 2015, Republicans held hostage an easy-to-pass bipartisan bill to stop human trafficking, demanding an unprecedented expansion of anti-abortion restrictions to cover new funds for providing assistance to trafficking victims.
  • Republicans have voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act dozens of times, including the portions that require insurers to cover contraception – and stop them from charging women more.
  • In state legislatures, Republicans have passed nearly 300 new restrictions on abortion access in the past five years – more than 50 this year alone.

So let’s be really clear about something: The Republicans’ scheme to defund Planned Parenthood isn’t some sort of surprised response to highly edited videos.

Let’s call out the Republican vote to defund Planned Parenthood on Monday for exactly what it is: Another piece of a deliberate, methodical, orchestrated right-wing attack on women’s rights. And I’m sick and tired of it.

Join me in telling the Republicans: Shame on you for playing games with women’s health.

Defunding Planned Parenthood is a big deal. Whatever your age, wherever you live, I guarantee that you know someone who has used a Planned Parenthood health center.

No one may mention it at Thanksgiving dinner or post it on Facebook, but look at the facts: One in five women in America is a Planned Parenthood patient at least once in her life. Every single year, nearly 2.7 million people show up for help at Planned Parenthood.

Why do so many people use Planned Parenthood? Because they are nonprofit doctors’ offices – more than half are in rural or medically underserved areas.

Young people go to Planned Parenthood for birth control. Women who can’t get appointments anywhere else go to Planned Parenthood for affordable Pap tests and cancer screenings. Couples go to Planned Parenthood for STD treatments or pregnancy tests. And yes, 3% of patients visit Planned Parenthood for a safe and legal abortion with a doctor who will show compassion and care for a woman who is making one of the most difficult decisions of her life.

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz may think it’s fun to play politics with these people to score points with presidential primary voters, but this isn’t a game. This is about cancer. This is about HIV. This is about birth control. This is about access to basic medical care.

The Republican plan to defund Planned Parenthood is a Republican plan to defund women’s health care. Join me now to say enough is enough.

I stand with Planned Parenthood. I fight for my daughter, for my granddaughters, and for people all across Massachusetts and all across this country. We cannot let the Senate Republicans defund Planned Parenthood.

I got a call from a Planned Parenthood fundraiser a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't have been happier to donate. Actually talked with the guy for a while about scheming Republicans, and man, he was very well informed. Definitely not just a phone jockey.

I wish I lived in a country capable of electing someone like Warren.

Ugh, these things have been popping up on my facebook feed from an old college acquaintance.  He was involved with the whole James O'Keefe/Mary Landrieu thing a while back, and was one of the only ones to avoid prison time.  Wouldn't be surprised if he's involved in this as well.

O'Reilly has used to tapes to really go full-tilt on rage (he's been doing that a lot lately, but his anger seems to be getting worse as the months progress):

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/oreilly-goes-...fenseless/

Quote:

He told Charles Krauthammer tonight that the liberal philosophy has gone off the rails and, assuming Krauthammer agreed, said that liberals “don’t believe in helping the downtrodden” or protecting the defenseless, and are “cynical vote-counters who will do anything for power.”

And a fifth video has surfaced:

http://www.mediaite.com/online/fifth-und...t-fetuses/

Quote:

The video purports to show Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast Melissa Farrell telling the undercover activists she can change abortion procedures to ensure they receive intact fetuses. “We’ve had studies in which the company… has a specific need, for a certain portion of the products of conception. And we bake that into our contract and our protocol that we follow this. So we deviate from our standard in order to do that.”

“Could you adjust the procedure if you knew, ‘Okay, they need a high volume of this’?” one of the undercover activists asks.

“Yeah, I think we can,” she responds while nodding. Federal law requires that “no alteration of the timing, method, or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy was made solely for the purposes of obtaining the tissue.”

Conservatives will undoubtedly have a field day with this extra video, but I'm not so sure they'll wield the power to take down Planned Parenthood.  A recent poll showed Planned Parenthood's favorability rating far higher than those of the Democrats, Republicans and even the NRA.  We saw what happened when Susan G. Komen for the Cure decided to stop funding Planned Parenthood.

Jindal- the Brownback of Louisiana

Bobby Jindal Cuts Off Medicaid Funding to Planned Parenthoods In Louisiana

:

The move comes despite the fact that the two Planned Parenthood clinics in Louisiana do not provide abortion, which Planned Parenthood confirmed to the state's Department of Health and Hospitals as part of the state's ongoing investigation into claims that the organization is profiting off of aborted fetal tissue donations. A third clinic being built in New Orleans plans to offer abortion, but will not participate in the tissue donation programs, a Planned Parenthood executive told the state.

Eh, he missed the debate cutoff, so he's now forced to do any stupid, loud thing he can to appear relevant.

I realize this is a semi-old thread but I feel that this is a nice addendum to all the bullshit foisted upon Planned Parenthood over the last 6-8 months (technically, it's been a lot longer than that)

2 Abortion Foes Behind Planned Parenthood Videos Are Indicted

HOUSTON — A county grand jury here that was investigating allegations of misconduct against Planned Parenthood has instead indicted two anti-abortion activists who made videos of the organization.

In a statement, the Harris County district attorney, Devon Anderson, said Monday that the director of the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden, had been indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs.

Another center employee, Sandra Merritt, was indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record.

The Center for Medical Progress had covertly shot videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the provision of body parts from aborted fetuses for research. Mr. Daleiden, 26, had posed as a biotechnology representative to infiltrate Planned Parenthood affiliates and surreptitiously record his attempts to procure tissue for research.

The activists have claimed that Planned Parenthood has engaged in the illegal sale of body parts — a charge the organization has firmly denied.

Ms. Anderson said in the statement that grand jurors had cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing. She did not specify in the statement what record or records were allegedly tampered with.

“We were called upon to investigate allegations of criminal conduct by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast,” Ms. Anderson said. “As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us. All the evidence uncovered in the course of this investigation was presented to the grand jury. I respect their decision on this difficult case.”

Wonder if this will come up during a GOP debate?

Carly Fiorina benefited from company using aborted fetal stem cells

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, a staunch opponent of abortion, made at least $83,000 serving on the board of directors of Merck & Co. at a time when the pharmaceutical company was producing vaccines using fetal stem cell lines derived from aborted fetuses, according to corporate documents reviewed by Al Jazeera America. The program “Inside Story” with Ray Suarez also obtained documents indicating that during Fiorina’s tenure on the board, anti-abortion groups had asked Merck to stop producing such vaccines, and that the company had refused.
