The Democratic Party Going Forward
Eh, I'd say you're kind of delusional if you think repairing the infrastructure in this country is a few years work. Our roads, bridges and dams are in a state of disrepair that would likely take decades of dedicated effort to address. And it would likely be no less menial labor than the number of 'grunts' the army currently employs, as infrastructure repair also requires skilled engineers and other high-paying jobs for people with expertise... which the army currently employs a Corps of.

But it's all an intellectual exercise anyway. The American voter has been voting in racists, misogynists, criminals, morons and traitors for at least the last 50 years; we have to fix that before getting into pricklier issues like whether we need a military larger than the rest of the world's combined.

Beto's rally with Willie Nelson in TX was the largest since Obama's in Portland 2008, over 59,000 people - over 20,000 more than Trump ever got.

Jason Kander is seeking treatment for PTSD and, as such, is dropping out of the mayor's race for Kansas City. The note he wrote is incredibly powerful and brave. I recommend reading it:

Elizabeth Warren is in the news cycle right now, but not for a bill of hers that passed last year that allowed for self-fitting, over-the-counter hearing aids.  Bose is now entering the market, although, this aid isn't considered "over-the-counter."

https://www.engadget.com/2018/10/05/fda-...aring-aid/

Quote:The US Food and Drug Administration has, for the first time, approved a hearing aid that can be fit, programmed and controlled by the user instead of a healthcare provider. The device comes from Bose and users can make adjustments to its settings in real time through a mobile app.

"Hearing loss is a significant public health issue, especially as individuals age," said Malvina Eydelman, director of the Division of Ophthalmic, and Ear, Nose and Throat Devices at the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. "Today's marketing authorization provides certain patients with access to a new hearing aid that provides them with direct control over the fit and functionality of the device. The FDA is committed to ensuring that individuals with hearing loss have options for taking an active role in their health care."

The US passed a new law last year that will allow for over-the-counter hearing aids, and it aims to provide adults with mild to moderate hearing loss access to hearing aids without them having to go through a physician first. The FDA is currently working on regulations for the new category of hearing aids. The agency says around 37.5 million adults report hearing loss ranging from "a little trouble" to "deaf."

Watching clips of the Beto/Cruz debate. Beto is fantastic...it’s gonna be so sad when he loses. Not surprising...but very sad.

A) A close loss won't end his political career.

B) It will be close. The enthusiasm gap could realistically push Texas blue about a decade earlier than the demographics alone indicate. I mean, if the last two years don't get Latinos voting, nothing will.

Jason Kander lost with a much bigger margin than Beto might, and he went on to be a national presence.

Also, it's not like this is Beto's only job. He's still a Congressman.
