Hollywood Scandals & Assorted Skeeve Catch-All

So...Rose McGowan can't be happy right now.

And no, when stories come up, you cannot post links to stolen videos or images on this MB.

1. This is meant to be a catch-all, not specifically for or immediately inspired by the recent McGowan situation.

2. If chewers wish to talk about it, i.e., not "move on", then they can and they will.

AHow can she blow a guy who films vertically? This is rewarding bad behavior.

I haven't dug into it too much, I just know it's out there, but I was thinking of the path she's been on recently and for someone (whoever) to drop this in the middle of her doing her "fuck exploitive, misogynistic Hollywood" thing is just the last thing she probably wanted to deal with. I don't know the woman and there are far too many other things for me to be upset about so I'm not going to act all offended on her behalf, but man, our comfort with technology is the trap.

ANow that Casey Affleck is riding some awards-buzz for Manchester By The Sea, some alleged sexual harassment (that was quietly settled) during the making of I'M STILL HERE is starting to bubble back up very quietly.

Kind of like Nate Parker all over again.

A

I remember hearing about Affleck doing some untoward things back around that time, but I think it was only about him climbing into bed with one of his female crew members. The other stuff is new to me.

It reminds me of the accusations leveled against Shane Black by his ex-girlfriend some years back. The accusations are too specific in their weirdness for me to doubt them.

ASpeaking of college days, I had no idea that Jon Hamm had brutalized a guy during his frat days. Maybe I missed it, but it doesn't sound like it got much press. Certainly not compared to Nate Parker. The victim looks like he's in his 60s now. I think Hamm and the fraternity took a plea deal; I hope the guy he beat the crap out of took him, his family and the fraternity to the bank.

So, the media is only going after Casey Affleck now because he's an Oscar contender? He's been in a lot of movies since 2010. Where was the outrage for the past six years?

I just think it's wrong that Rose McGowan is using a private moment between two adults to extort Von Miller. Way outta line.

I saw someone reference this on Crazy Days and Nights gossip website today, that Casey often uses the pseudonym John Merrick (the elephant man) and I happen to know that this is true.

I don't know why he does this, but the real irony for me anyway is that at the time I learned this, some 10 years ago or so, I worked with a guy really named John Merrick, who was a construction project manager for celebrity homes in LA.  Because he had J-Lo as a client during the Bennifer era, he was the one who told me this about Casey.

This is probably the right place for this, but Bertolucci has confirmed that the infamous "butter scene" in Last Tango in Paris was filmed without Maria Schneider's full consent:

That is...horrifying on basically every level.

Yeah, I just read this and it made me feel queasy.

ABut it's ART!

Yeah...I've never seen Last Tango and this assures I never will. So Bertolucci waited until after she had died to reveal this?

...and now to decide how I feel about Brando..

AI have to mull this Bertolucci business over a bit. It's shitty, insensitive and manipulative, but no one was actually raped. On the other hand, it shows just how much power men can have over women in these situations and how emotionally damaging even the act of simulation can be in the right context.

Will I swear off Bertolucci because of this? No, of course not. I'm not a fucking baby.

I thought that LAST TANGO story was old news, Maria Schneider voiced her complaints about the scene, and Bertolucci never actively denied he manipulated the actress to some extent. Even without knowing about the shooting itself I always felt the scene was gratuitous, but would have the film made back its budget 100 times (!) without it?

That's fucked up.

Well, it didn't cost *that* much (1,25 million of 1972 dollars) but according to wikipedia, it has made 96 millions (worldwide and probably over 40 years, but still). Which portion of the audience did come for the artistic value of the film and not for the sex, the nudity and *that* scene?

AI saw the movie in college. Isn't there a big lamp in the middle of the shot in that scene?

NSFW

Doesn't seem so, an it was a pretty static long take if I remember well. I hope the picture is not too explicit (but when you know the context... ), I'll edit my message if necessary.

Yes, no sexual intercourse occurred but a 40-something man suddenly smearing butter around a 19 year old girl's genitals without her permission is still sexual assault in my eyes. The fact that they did this to evoke a real reaction out of her for the camera because they didn't trust her skills as an actress is pure evil.

AYeah, what Sax said. I can't imagine actually filming something, knowingly trying to get a REAL horrified reaction of that nature out of a person. It's just fucked up. Borderline psychotic. No art is worth that. This isn't like the stunt people on Die Hard dropping Alan Rickman on 2 instead of 3 to get his genuine surprised reaction. This is invasion. And assault. And every other word I can think of..

ASo, this cellphone hack business has happened again and I have one question and a comment. One, is Apple open to lawsuits? Because this is what? The third time or more that it's happened to high profile people on a large scale? Two, at a certain point, the victims have to stop trusting this technology if they're genuinely upset about this stuff being out there. It's been repeatedly proven not to be safe.

AThe one I feel worse about is the leak involving female military officers. Say what you will about the decision making process of the victims, but the pure assholishness of their male peers beats any other consideration by a country mile. Who knows how many careers will be cut short because so many of the victims will undeservedly feel ashamed to look other officers and superiors in the eye.

Even years from now they'll have to worry about those pictures being spread by someone with a grudge who wants to embarrass them. They'll be living under permanent threat.

AIt does seem like an unreasonable request from a gentleman, considering how this shit seems to find its way onto the Internet faster than you can say, "Paris Hilton."

AEveryone feels differently about it, I suppose. I've been sent stuff before, but *no one* has a picture or video of me in a compromising position and I'm not one to ask for pictures or video either. The best I could say and have said to anyone, but especially women, is that if you can imagine your guy *telling* his boys about where and how he fucks you, then make sure your cool with him *showing* them if you supply him with images, because it's ike an 80 / 20 possibility.

Pretty sure the 100-page legal disclaimer that everyone agrees to without reading covers this.

And yeah, you should consider the stuff on your phone to be about as secure as leaving it sitting on your front lawn. Sure it's still theft if someone takes it, but if it's important you don't leave it on the lawn in the first place.

Or you get told by the neighbors to stop leaving nude images of yourself in the yard. <img src=" src="http://files.chud.com/images/smilies/frown.gif" />

Perhaps we could just start a movement to make nudes the preferred avatars in all social media. Then we'd all be bored of them in about two days.

AMy most recent ex-gf used to randomly send me pics of her bottom throughout the day. But all that media was destroyed when I accidentally broke my phone on The Mummy ride. I never save anything to the Cloud. Might as well just post it on 4chan yourself.

If that's not some kind of Freudian cosmic coincidence, I don't know what is.
