Hollywood Scandals & Assorted Skeeve Catch-All
Even more troubling is Kricfalusi's Sody Pop character. Basically a sexualized 15-year old girl, which he bragged on The Howard Stern Show about being underage. I'm actually beginning to think the character is entirely based on the teen who became his live-in girlfriend. Google Sody Pop and you'll see that he constantly draws her nude. Nauseating.

90's Ren & Stimpy was a huge childhood staple for me, but basically everything he did after that was self-indulgent garbage (proof that art and the artist perhaps aren't so inseparable after all). The revamped version of Ren & Stimpy in the early aughts is unbearably bad.

Also, I kind of can't wait for Billy West to comment on this.

Billy West was asked what it was like to work with John K in a Reddit AMA a while back.

His response: "I won't speak ill of the dead."

Having child pornography on his computer is part of the accusation leveled by one of the women who interned with Kricfalusi between her junior and senior years in high school, so the attorney probably felt it was necessary to specifically deny that.

I remember years ago when I thought it was a little weird that semi-infamous furry porn artist Doug Winger did (non-porn, as far as I ever noticed) backgrounds for The Angry Beavers. (Or...so I heard. IMDB doesn't list him, so I could be wrong.) Nowadays that seems practically quaint and wholesome :/

Maurizio Montes de Oca, writing for Buzzfeed:  Keith Raniere, leader of the self-help group NXIVM who was arrested in the US earlier this week, had been doing business with the Mexican government through a network of companies since 2008, in partnership with two of the most powerful families in Mexico.

Quote:Through a network of five companies, Raniere, his wife Nancy Salzman, Clare Bronfman, daughter of multimillionaire Edgar Bronfman, and two relatives of Mexican politicians have been awarded government contracts worth millions of Mexican pesos.

Emiliano Salinas, son of former Mexican president Carlos Salinas, and Alejandra González Anaya, sister of the current secretary of finance and public credit, are both part of a corporate network with Raniere, according to documents reviewed by BuzzFeed News.

Emiliano Salinas serves as the majority shareholder in a corporate holding that controls four other companies, all of which are run out of the same offices and share the same shareholders.

Quote:Salinas told BuzzFeed News that his close relationship with NXIVM began between 2008 and 2009, when he lent money to his friend Anaya, the finance secretary's sister, to establish a company called Ánima. As a security for the loan, Salinas became the majority shareholder in the company.

Quote:Over the past 10 years, Ánima has been a recurring contractor for events hosted by the Mexican government, staging shows for large public celebrations, such as the Independence Bicentennial in 2010, the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, and the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla in 2012.

Quote:American authorities are also investigating a possible Ponzi scheme within NXIVM's courses. This is how the former student described the courses taught by Salinas and his associates to BuzzFeed News: "Once you are in, it's like a black hole. Your 'personal growth' is never over."

In time, he realized that the friend who invited him in was actually a recruiter who was trying to get more students to attend NXIVM's courses.

"He immediately tried to infiltrate my contacts. I couldn't invite him to any social occasions without having him try to sell the program to other people."

Yeah she was 17 in that picture but she looks so creepily young. Apparently Buzzfeed agreed because they removed that photo.

I was kinda wondering if that photo should've been in that article myself. I felt dirty just seeing it. Not because of her, obviously. For her. Being oblivious...semi oblivious. Whatever. Jeez man. Skeezy doesn't even begin to cover it. That's like if I was sneaking pictures of my girlfriend's daughter. She is a CHILD. She walked in the room one day when I was changing shirts and I jumped like she'd caught me getting out of the shower (which would never ever happen). How do people get away with this for so long??*

*that was rhetorical. I know how. Through power and complicity/denial of others. And that's what seemingly ending, thankfully..

Kristin Kreuk has commented on Twitter and in a magazine interview about her involvement with this NXIVM cult.  According to the timeline she gives, she was a member for seven years, but categorically denies having been an inner circle member or having recruited sex slaves herself.  The accusations supposedly come as a shock to her, and she expresses embarrassment over having been involved and support for the women who have spoken up.

Kreuk's full statement here.

Kreuk's denial of having worked for the cult as a recruiter runs counter to the story given by a whistleblower who worked as the cult's publicist, but both accounts place her departure before Mack and Raniere started branding women with hot wire.  This whistleblower, Frank Parlato, appears to be the one who first brought the branding to light.  It's his claim that Kreuk was the one who recruited Mack into the cult.

Federal law enforcement raided a cult-owned facility in New York the same day that the leader was arraigned in Texas.  It's testament to how ridiculous the age we live in is that this story hasn't been the nation's top headline at any point, but we'll hear more soon from the authorities, I'm sure.

She was a member for seven years, brought in her co-worker who became the second-in-command, yet never learned anything about what was going on...

Lana Lang was more perceptive... it only took her like five years to realize her lover wasn't actually running out for milk every time a supervillain attacked their yokel town.

Jamie Luner's accuser, Anthony Oliver, seems like a colorful character.  He's on a list, maintained by the State of California, of "vexatious litigants," or people who have filed lawsuits so often that they're considered public nuisances.

That list, found on the State's court documents website, is here.  Anthony Oliver is on page 45.

I've yet to see a comprehensive list of the lawsuits Oliver has filed, but Luner's manager cited a history of 27 federal lawsuits in 8 years, all seeking financial damages from one party or another.  It sounds like this is just what he does for a living.

Ohh I figured this one would fall apart pretty quickly. I just thought I would link to it because I believe it's the first of it's type out there.

Yeah, it is an interesting story. It's the type of thing that would incite a lot of copy/paste of the meme of the cops saying "Niiiiice" from South Park, but I was curious to check out the Hollywood tabloids to see how they were covering it in the current atmosphere.

Luner's manager also says that the accuser's timeline puts the incident at the house party long before Luner bought that home.

I'm thinking more his standup that put him in a position to be on that show. There have been a lot of successful comics that I wasn't into but at least got why a segment of society loved them. Like those Blue Collar fellas. Not for me but, okay, I get that a faction of the country wants Cracker Barrel quips.

With Miller I don't get the desired demographic. Is it just potheads?

Anywho, per Anthony Jeselnik's twitter:

There was a weird thing a couple years ago where for like 3 months Frank Stallone would just show up on the Adam Carolla podcast once a week. It was revealed later that he wasn't actually being invited. He was invited on one time and then just kept showing up every week and walking in and no one wanted to tell him to stop coming in. It only stopped because he just stopped showing up one week.

During a Michigan State board meeting, a teenage victim of Nassar's revealed that MSU's president tried to pay her off - https://deadspin.com/msu-board-meeting-e...1825245090

Later on during the meeting, Engler proposed a tuition increase to pay for the school's legal fees. It didn't go well:

"What a vile man you are," student Dan Martel, a member of the grass-roots Reclaim MSU movement, said. "To direct the anger cast by students for higher tuition rates on survivors of the worst sexual assault scandal in MSU history."
