  3. Revisiting Snoke (3:29)
  4. The Supremacy (4:01)
  5. Fun With Finn And Rose (2:34)
  6. Old Friends (4:29)
  7. The Rebellion Is Reborn (4:00)
  8. Lesson One (2:10)
  9. Canto Bight (2:38)
  10. Who Are You? (3:04)
  11. The Fathiers (2:42)

I'll be totally honest - I barely noticed the soundtrack. All the new character themes were there from The Force Awakens but the only new one I noticed was Rose's theme which was great.

Plus there were a couple of odd bits of recycled score from the OT

AIf the movie is so good that I forget to notice the score, I think that would be a win.

I didn't have a problem with the new characters, I just don't think 'Force Awakens' did anything interesting with them. (If that makes any sense)

AWe’re all missing the obvious most important question...

How many pages should we expect in here of in-depth Porg analysis once everyone’s see the movie? Twenty? Thirty?

Inquiring minds want to know.

EDIT: I just posted essentially the same question as Barry at almost the same time, albeit as a joke. I may need to take a break...

is it true what people are saying about snoke?

Is Snoke developed into an interesting antagonist? I stumbled across a spoiler that suggested

he gets no backstory and is killed off unceremoniously by Kylo. Which sounds seriously disappointing.

This is what happens but it worked for me

I suppose I'll have to judge how the character is handled for myself, but I was expecting a bit more depth based on Serkis' comments about Snoke's connection to the past and more personal motivations. It's a bit disappointing that he's apparently a nobody. How much screentime does he have compared to TFA?

He has loads of screentime and is a brilliant presence. Amazing performance and he looks incredible. The moment took me totally by surprise as I had zero knowledge about it beforehand.

This is like being the third wheel at the party while your friends converse in another language.

When are you seeing it out of curiosity?

AWhere would you rate it in comparison with IV, V, VI, VIII ?

Right now I'd place it slightly above The Force Awakens.

The OT is still ahead though.

Return of the Jedi is better than The Last Jedi?

Oh oh.  Better lower my expectations a few bars.

I was disappointed by TFA, so none of this is particularly encouraging. I expected more from Johnson. But it's also possible that my personal reaction will be completely different! I've just read one too many reactions that place this below or slightly above TFA.

Non spoiler question: Who would you say are the cast MVPs? Not looking for any details about the arcs, but who were your favorite performances/characters.

This question may or may not make sense, but here it goes: does this FEEL like a Star Wars movie, or is it something completely different?

Also, how do the action scenes stack up?  Is it a return to older school Star Wars set pieces?

AApart from the plot point you didn’t like, does the plot feel like a natural progression of events rather than TFA’s approach of setpiece A -> setpiece B -> setpiece C etc

Daisy Ridley is fantastic in this. A huge step up from The Force Awakens.

Driver is great as always.

Poe is given a lot more to do too

Dern and del Toro are both great

Actually, on reflection there's isn't a single poor performance

Another question: does Daisy Ridley make a 'great leap forward' in acting quality, kinda like Harrison did in between STAR WARS and EMPIRE?  She seems a lot more polished in the trailers for TLJ compared to in TFA, so I'm curious as to how she comes off in this.

eta: you kinda answered it above.

The action set pieces are absolutely spectacular. The opening battle was my personal favourite.

This one I'm 100 percent fine with you spoiling,  and I mean it.  Is Finn holding out romantically for Rey, or is Finn and Rose a romance?  Lay it on me.  I can take it.  Even if it's not what I want to hear.

Yes and no. Certain aspects are incredibly (and literally) linear. And there is one major plot device which I can see a lot of people complaining about.

Big space battle?  That's my major weakness.

Finn and Rose end up somewhat romantically involved. Finn and Rey are definitely just friends and always will be.

oh good, so it's not TOTAL hot garbage.

wasn't expecting it to recapture the lighnting in the bottle of the OT and was expecting issues since it is the follow-up to TFA, which is a big shiny heap of issues.

but I do hope it's a more consistent experience than TFA, which falls apart into ill-plotted nostalgia porn after its excellent first act.

Same.  I'm especially stoked for the battles in this one based upon the trailers and such.  I hated hated HATED how the ships 'flew' in TFA with kinda a herky-jerky movement to them.  ROGUE ONE, for all of its problems, fixed this issue, and I'm really hoping that it's carried over to TLJ.

Thanks, man! One more question, and it's a tiny spoiler one, but not for the story: is the Jedi Steps motif used in the soundtrack?
