Nooj: I get the sense that the big leap from crane to open window happens at the beginning of the second act, not at the climax. How accurate am I?

I think it looks like the bad guys send Johnson's character down while they keep his family/bosses hostage, probably in search of a mcguffin, and Johnson has to make his way back up past the police, because he cant tell them why he needs to go back up.
Or something like that.

The last trailer I saw for it (in front of INFINITY WAR, I believe) pretty much laid out the entire movie, with the plot structure suggested by ryoken above.

I bet the bad guys need something to open that room Johnson's bosses lock themselves in, Johnson is forced to go get it outside the buidling because his family is held hostage, returns to play hero, only to find out his bosses are corrupt/criminals who have corrupt cops on their payroll, so the finale pist Johnson against both the criminals and his own boss's forces.

Oh man, before Jurassic World they played the Skyscraper trailer, and from here I knew the trailer would spoil the film so me and my GF spent the whole trailer with our eyes shut and our fingers in our ears to blank it out. We must have looked like fools, but it worked! Take that, Hollywood!

So... This is basically Die Hard in a skyscraper.., which is basically the plot of Die Hard minus 'fucks' and squibs, so it gets a PG-13 rating. If I were Steven E. de Souza or Jeb Stuart, I'd be placing calls to lawyers right now, just in case.

Lemme guess...Johnson's bosses are bankrupt/in debt, so they staged the terrorist/criminal attack on the building for some insurance scam with Johnson as the fall guy?

I haven't watched one of the Rock's films in a long time. He has the potential, but nothing really interests me.

I've only seen two films of the F&F franchise, but that's a different story. I just haven't gotten around to them yet.

Dammit!
Maybe my guesses are too rational...do i need to go stupider/dumber?
Wait, is the building alive? Is it controlled by an evil AI?

I think I read about them in Time Magazine.

As of now this is only tracking at about $20 million for the weekend. The Rock has enough franchises now to whether a bomb here and there but hopefully if this ends up tanking he'll stop working with so many tepid directors.

The big problem with this film is they somehow spent 125 million on a Die Hard clone.

You spend that much money on a pretty narrowly focused genre (some would say, derivative) thriller you've really put yourself behind the eightball.

I assume PG-13?

Going to try to get around to seeing this.

**on another note, Hellboy 2 cost only 85 million to make! That's amazing!!

Its hardly surprising considering the guy has had three big blockbusters released in more or less six months. Everyone in the world saw Jumanji, it was barely out of theatres and Rampage came along and now The Rock is everywhere again due to Skyscraper. Guy has charisma for days and is seemingly loved but even he cant beat overexposure.

I liked when it seemed like the obligatory chick fight would instead be between the female lead and the effete British villain.

But then got into a fight with the bad guys' one villainess anyway.

Now I know what Die Hard would be like if Arnold Schwarzenegger had starred in it and it'd been focus grouped to death.
I'm still avian.

I like that the greatest tourist attraction in the world is a big holographic funhouse which would be just as impressive on the ground as it would be 200 stories in the air.

Bad Guy: "Open the panic room."
The Rock: "I can't, it's a panic room."
Bad Guy: "We're going to take your daughter and all walk away to another room while you figure out how to open it."
Me: "What? That's the stupidest idea in this movie, and that's saying something."

why is that particularly stupid?

Because we must nitpick all the movies to death!
