GASPAR NOE'S "CLIMAX"
#1
Noe can be hit or miss but I adore Enter The Void for its visuals and this looks like it's in that wheelhouse.

The trailer song is Supernature by Cerrone, best used in this classic Benny Hill sketch. Sorry if the sight of hot women slaving for the patriarchy's toxic masculinity triggers you fags. Tough shit.

My dream is for Marvel to hire Noe to make a DAZZLER movie!!!FACT!!!

People have been talking about this like it's a downright crowdpleaser... for Noe anyway. I've 'liked' all of his films to one degree or other so I'm down.

Is this him trying to make a porno again? This title after Love makes me think that's what he's doing. Reading a Deadline article on it gives me even less of a clue about it when it's talking about Suspiria and Dawn of the Dead in relation to it, (so it's a horror movie? That's cool) the only take away I really took from the article is the writer thinks Vogueing and Krumping are "arcane" dance style...which I'm not sure was meant to be a joke.

I'd rather see Gaspar do a Doctor Strange movie. Enter the Void's visuals and atmosphere are what the Doctor Strange movie wishes it was doing. There is that Marvel poster in Irréversible, can't remember what it was, I think original Captain Marvel.

I've heard it described as a dance horror - a hallucinogen-spiked rave that descends into madness. I can easily see Noe doing that idea justice. Plus it's only 90 minutes so it's not an endurance test.

I enjoyed Love more than most people seemed to, but that's a weird case of a movie that's fairly extreme by most conventional standards managing to feel disappointingly tame. When I heard he was planning some kind of erotic 3D film I was expecting some kind of cosmic porno phantasmagoria, but in the end it was a dour relationship drama with more graphic sex than usual.

That's what the trailer for LOVE looked like which is why I haven't seen it but, yeah, a Noe Doctor Strange movie would be mindblowing! I wish Marvel/Feige would say FUCK IT and make one fucking insane movie a year set in the MCU and Directed by someone like Noe, Miike, Iñárritu, Cuaron etc... based on some obscure character. Lars Von Trier's SQUIRREL GIRL, no?!

I liked Love too. I'm kind of in the same boat, I heard all the talk about how he wanted to make a porno and was like: Oh, that's interesting. I was expecting something really erotic and exciting, instead, yeah, it's just kind of clinical and dour. It's really well shot, it's a great looking movie, but as a porno I don't think it works at all. Nicole Kidman in that gray top from that Invastion of the Body Snatchers movie she's in is more erotic than any of the sex in Love. I think maybe the thing I loved most about Love though is someone accidentally pulling that up on Netflix when they meant to watch that Love show Netflix has, remember them both showing up on there pretty close to each other.

Saw that Duke of Burgundy around the same time, it doesn't have the sex like Love, but it does a better job of getting to what Love wanted to.

The "more graphic sex than usual" bit feels kind of like its underselling it. Can't think of many relationships dramas with graphic sex at all.

I want a Miike Star Wars movie. I want Miike doing lightsaber battles with crazy Force power shit and to see him get to play around with the kind of money those movies bring with them.

While watching the new Avengers movie I did have a laugh over the Ichi the Killer needle torture scene showing up between Dr. Strange and the one good Thanos lackey in the movie although I can't remember his name. Strange even got some needles in the face. They should have killed Asano off in that movie. Kind of can't believe how poorly they used him in the Thor movies.
