Danny McBride & Jody Hill's THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES (HBO)
#1
Part three of Danny McBride & Jody Hill's "misunderstood angry man" TV series trilogy is the story of a world famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. McBride is set to play the series lead, Jesse Gemstone, the head of the televangelist group, and one of three Gemstone siblings. Edi Patterson (Vice Principals) is set to join the cast as Jesse’s sister, Judy Gemstone. HBO has ordered a half-hour pilot episode that is set to be shot in Charleston, South Carolina this July.

Danny McBride: "It's very much inspired by British comedy and Seventies cinema, these character pieces where they wouldn’t wrap themselves up in neat bows – like the ending of Five Easy Pieces."

This sounds great, especially if we can get at least a guest appearance from Goggins.

Heck yeah Edi Patterson.

Apparently she and McBride have written a movie for her to star in, but no one wants to bankroll it.

If she were to find a way to claim the mantle of female Danny McBride, I’d be all for that.

Yeeesssss. Glad Edi Patterson is back on board. Hopefully they can wrangle another Murray cameo too.

Trying to think of who I'd rather see play Danny McBride's dad than Sir John Goodman. Coming up empty.

Hold up, there's a new Hill/McBride/Brolin movie premiering on Netflix today. Had no idea.

Lack of buzz for it has my expectations low but I'll give it a shot over the weekend.

The reviews have been really lukewarm, but I have to check out every Hill/McBride project. Vice Principals was incredible.

Yeah, the way this was snuck out doesn’t bode well, but the creative team and logline are both more than enough for a watch.

A few laughs here and there but most of the LEGACY film falls flat. Way too repetitive. Felt like there are variations on the same scene over and over again.
