BOND 26 pre-release
#1
I figure this could be used for any casting rumors/suggestions, as that's going to be the primary discussion of this future film before we get into any details over the plot. This allows the NTTD thread to be purely about that film.

My pick? I've always been a fan of Dan Stevens, especially after listening to his audiobook narration of the original Casino Royale novel. So at the very least he's already got his work cut out for him. Here's the first chapter from that novel:

I like Stevens.

I also like Richard Madden and, yes, Henry Cavill.

Sam Heughan, Tom Ellis, or Chris Hemsworth.

I do feel Cavill's chance had already passed. He was Campbell's choice for CR, would have been interesting to see how that turned out. I'm glad Craig won the role instead though.

And to address the elephant in the room: Idris Elba would have been a fantastic Bond, but he's too old now. Might only have two films in him at this point, and that would always feel too underwhelming. Same with Fassbender, who'd likely be the same age Craig is now by the time he does a third film, and I don't want to see another aging Bond like Roger Moore.

I think they're absolutely going to cast someone in their thirties.

The OUTLANDER guy? Several women in my life speak highly of him.

Been meaning to catch OUTLANDER, especially now that it's on Netflix.

One popular name I see come up in Bond circles is Aidan Turner. I haven't seen him in anything besides THE HOBBIT which I've only seen in theaters and barely remember.

I dunno. It all depends on what type of Bond they want to have.

Seems like we are due for another “gentleman spy” ala Moore/Brosnan after the hard edged Connery/Dalton/Craig type.

I hope so. I'm certainly ready for a (modest) pendulum swing back in the escapist direction.

I think that's the most likely case, in order for the new guy to not be unfairly compared to Craig.

I’ve seen every episode of Outlander, and I like Heughan, but no thanks. He’s got the looks, and some charm, but lacks gravitas. I think Stevens would be great.
I'm not Avery.

I can’t imagine he’d do it or they would go for a big name but I think Chris Hemsworth could pull off Bond.

I think Fassbender’s window has closed. He would have worked like gangbusters if they had cast him for Casino Royale and done it as a period piece set in the late 50’s.

One thing I like about the casting in previous films is that it seemed to be unpredictable. Connery and Craig were relatively unknown actors to large audiences while Moore and Brosnan were beloved TV stars. So maybe we'll be spot on with the actors already named, or EON will pick someone nobody would have easily guessed.

Compared to 2004, it does seem like we don't have an actor that most fans backed like Clive Owen.

Hiddleston has sadly likely aged out. The Night Manager BBC miniseries was a great audition for Bond.

I dig Madden, particularly after Bodyguard.

Damien Lewis woulda been great, but definitely too old.

Sam Claflin? Nicholas Hoult?

Think Madden is probably the best bet thus far.
If you're happy, you're not paying attention.

I never thought Clive Owen would have been a good Bond.

My vote is for Jovan Adepo (OVERLORD).

Cavill should be focused on an U.N.C.L.E. sequel happening. It's not, but one can dream.

Elba's been too old for ages, but someone who breaks from the traditional white male template could be interesting just to mix things up.

The internet would need to be switched off though because the discourse would be intolerable for the next 15 years.

After all the angst and 'finding himself' of Craig's run, it'd be nice if the next one hits the ground running with full formed Bond in his prime.

Adepo is a POC!

And yeah, the internet would break. But it (casting Bond as a POC) should happen anyway.
