i can't believe that a few of you actually suggested logan as the killer. there's no way in hell the writers would do this. he's one of the few people who actually has an alibi. didn't they say he was out of the country? sure it's a tv show and they could end up having him return early or something but i highly doubt this. along with veronica and keith, logan is easily the best character on the show and i can't see them getting rid of him as a full time member of the cast.

i wish i could remember his alibi. didn't veronica imply that it was in question with the 3 hour difference in the reporting of Lily's death?

i don't think he is the killer, just like i don't think any of the high schoolers (Weevil, Duncan...) will be. if they pull that off i will be pleasantly surprised.

Logans more likey the rapist, which would be all sorts of fucked up.

Like ive said all along Logan is the rapist. He was trying to nail Lili and all her friends

Hm. On the one hand, wow. Takes some balls to put Logan in that postition. On the other hand, it's sort of calculated, if Logan is pill-supplier-but-not-rapist (which I think is most likely), as in "what's the least we could implicate Logan and still get credit for being ballsy?" But I guess that's what they call "smart." At this point, I don't think they're going to implicate Logan any further than that, but it's enough to drop a huge wedge between them. Looked like Weevil was ready to smack Logan down next episode, which would be pretty nifty.

no i'm pretty sure logan asked her that a few episodes and she mentioned that seeing how he was out of the country he couldn't have done it. he asked this after he saw all the profiles of possible suspects on her computer. the 2 hour diference question was when veronica was talking to keith and she asked why he never thought weevil was the killer. he mentioned he was at work or something where they punch in time. then she mentioned the new time difference that they now know of and i think he said why would the kanes cover up the murder for someone like him.

logan isn't the rapist either. he either sold or gave ghb to people that night.

thanks for the recap on the alibi situation. it's hard to keep then straight sometimes.

i agree that Logan is more than likely the supplier of the drug. he seems to be more the instigator of things than the actual participant. it'll make it more dramatic, also, as there was no specific malicious intent against Veronica, just in general, so there is some wiggle room for forgiveness. the breaking point will be he knows who did it and is keeping quiet about it.

I just want to add that I love the logic of the boyfriend: "If I can't have her, nobody will. And after they see her working that popsicle, no man will want to be with her!" Uh, yeah...didn't think this through, did we?

Thank god for bittorrent ive just finished watching every episode so far
and have loved every one of of them .....great to see its going to have another series

Ive read a few of your ideas on the murder and though i dont know who the killer is
i believe i can come up with a very logical explanation for the Kane cover up....

from all the information given us so far we know that neither of the two Kane parents
are likely to be the killer but it does seem that they found Duncan covered in Lilys blood
(its implied by the washing of the soccer kit)
but with no memory of what happened that night ,i think the whole cover up is based
around the idea that the parents think Duncan killed Lily, as he does`nt remember anything
from that night it might even turn out to be him that did the dirty deed, possible but so far the`ve
kept us guessing quite well .....and anyone might be guilty

slagar already mentioned that and i think that's the way they're going with it. it wouldn't surprise me if the killer end's up being someone who was in like one episode. someone like weevil's grandmother found out about lilly and himself so ole granny ousted her. they better not cop out on pull that kinda shit on us. i find they pull this basically on every episode though. we'll see some kid in one scene and then they'll end up being the person who set someone up or did whatever the fuck veronica is investigating in that particular episode.

Well new episode tonight we finally get to see who the rapist is yay! Anyway I was just thinking about how the last episode didn't really make any sense. The guys gonna put the video out and I understand shes pissed and to retaliate they go through this complicated ruse in order to make it seem as if hes gay. Why didn't they just threaten to call the cops? I mean the girl was like 16 or 17, I don't know if he's 18 or not but he could still be charged with child pornography. So if he puts it out call the cops, simple and much more effective. I mean anyone in the military could tell it's just a photo shop job and his family does have alot of money. But child pornography chsrges don't look good on anyone's record. But I guess I can't really complain seeing as how this episode was just an excuse to get the the rapist revealed show.

For those who don't know yet Rob Thomas posted some DVD information on his website:

Will there be a Veronica Mars Season 1 DVD?
Yes. But we've been given a tough choice regarding how the DVD is released. Warner Home Video has told us that we can only get the DVD out in September if we don't include any extras. They have to start pressing them right now. I would love to do extras for the package, but our team thinks it's too important to get the DVD out before we begin season 2 to wait.

I do agree that if there is any possiblity of the show surviving beyond a second season they need to get the DVDs out before that season's start. I doubt people will really pick the show up without at least a marginal knowledge of what happened before.

I'm buying the DVDs regardless of special features, but it sucks that there won't be many. I've been downloading some of the older episodes and rewatching them and they are very rewatchable. After the last 3 episodes, which have probably been my favorite 3 thus far, Veronica Mars is now my favorite show on TV right now.

Well I guess I will be the first one to comment on last nights episode. So it WAS Duncan it just turns out that she wasn't raped, not bad. I mean I wasn't really leaning towards him because it was really obvious but then to drop in that it was consenual and he knew he was fuckin his sister(even though he was drugged or something). And so Logan's a bad guy now? Hmm it seemed like he'd been doing this for a while now so it's not like he set this up just for her. Of course that still makes it wrong but I got a feeling Logan's not out of the picture yet and im not completely sure he's a bad guy yet. I mean you never know what kinda explaination they will come up with for the camera. I mean he did go through all the trouble of telling an entire party full of ihs close friends that if they didn't like his girlfriend then get the fuck out.

i'm leaning toward the possiblity that Jake Kane is not Veronica's father. Veronica had that DNA test earlier in the season and never opened it. now the her father is doing one. it would be much more dramatic to have the results show Duncan and Veronica aren't related. she could have had that knowledge all along and last night's show would have been much different.

no progress on the killer, other than putting Logan back in the spotlight a bit. i really don't like the Logan/Veronica relationship much anyway but i guess it could go to show how he uses his fame to lure girls to his bedroom so he can video them.

Wow. The swinging back and forth on Logan is alright/Logan is a creep is making my neck hurt. What I like is that everything is so grey on this show. It's not about evil villains, it's about people, stupid teenagers, who do shitty things because they're stupid teenagers, and then have to deal with the moral consequences of them. I mean, yeah, it would have been much more fucked up if Duncan had raped Veronica, but it would also be a clear-cut thing: Duncan is bad. How the fuck do you sort this shit out? Or how do you sort out the creepy Logan who was overseeing the body shots from the noble "You got a problem with my girlfriend?" Logan?

I also like that we're getting the first hints that Wallace's relationship with Veronica didn't progress in quite the way he was hoping. I mean, I'm sure he's cool with being the platonic friend, but I get the feeling that in the back of his mind, he was hoping he could make the move.

As I've said before, I think Rob Thomas handles the idea of moral grey areas much better than Joss Whedon, but watching VM is also making me realize Whedon's strengths in comparison to Thomas. Whedon's characters connect with the audience in ways that these kids just do not. I love this show, but it's on an intellectual level that it engages me: I find myself saying "wow, I'm really impressed that they went there with that," rather than "Oh, Veronica, I feel so bad for you!" I'm not sure how exactly Whedon accomplishes this feat of making his characters come alive, even when they're acting in unbelievable ways. My guess is that JW just has a great eye for casting actors who can connect with each other and with an audience.

i highly doubt veronica and duncan are siblings. upn probably wouldn't let that fly. another great episode this week having every secondary character back but it's pretty lame to have back to back episodes where veronica and logan are basically in love only to in the very end break it off because veronica found something out about logan. hopefully harry hamlin becomes a full time cast member next season. the shit with himself and logan is pretty good.

season finale tonight. the episode title is "Leave it to Beaver."

enjoy. i have no predictions other than Abel Koontz is not the killer.

I'm actually nervous about the possibility of them blowing it. I want this to be good SO bad.

What sucks is that I'll be out tonight AND tomorrow. What's good is that nobody watches the show, so as long as I stay out of this thread, I'm not likely to get spoiled (although I'm pretty sure I know who the killer is...).

This reviewer from Newsday loved it. I personally have been rewatching some of the old episodes to psych myself up and am so ready for it. Woo hoo.

My last-minute prediction: the killer is a character in whom we are emotionally invested, yet whose absence in season 2 will not change the basic structure of the show. And I can only think of one character that fits that description.
Reply
Well fuck me that was good and not nearly as predictable as I thought it would be, although you would think Veronica would of figured out a way to sneak into the Kane house a long time ago and check the super secret vent hiding spot. Also don't you think the police would of thought of checking the vent? I mean why wouldn't Keith have thought of it when he was investigating. It seems like a fairly obvious hiding spot. But whatever all in all it didn't disappoint me at all. Although I do gotta say I hated the cliffhanger, not because it was a cliffhanger but because it was kinda dumb. Ohhh whos at the door? Find out next season on Veronica Mars!

I don't know if anyone would be foolish enough to read this before seeing the episode, but if you are, don't.

I thought that was a pretty damn good episode. Probably not my favorite of the season, but definitely excellent. While I did not predict the killer it was actually kind of obvious in hindsight. I was very glad to see that Keith was Veronica's father. That was a very good scene and just another great part of a very well done episode. It's a bit of a shame that Harry Hamlin will be mostly gone (it's actually kind of likely that he would return via Logan visiting him in prison) because he was very good and creepy, especially towards the end of the season.

As far as the "cliffhanger" ending, I'm more interested in what happened between Logan and Weevil. I don't believe either of them were at the door, so that person is likely either Wallace or Duncan. I'm hoping it's Veronica's BFF Wallace. They definitely set up a great love triangle for next season with Veronica, Duncan, and Logan. (assuming he's still alive) I'm sure Wallace and possibly Weevil would like to put their hat in the ring there, but it seems a bit unlikely. With Duncan and Logan's dads both in jail Veronica is practically the only main character with a father at home. (I don't think we know if Weevil has one)

Can't wait for the next season. Even watching the DVDs is pretty exciting.

Great episode; My fav moment: when Keith jumped right into the fire, then Veronica's reaction afterward.....great stuff...I am really happy with the resolution with mommy dearest (for now).

Has there been any hint as to the season 2 story arc?

I swear I had the TV on the right channel before I left. I fucking SWEAR I did. But somehow, I came home to a tape of the annoying couple from Survivor losing some kind of race. Then I held my .45 in my hand and stared at it for a long, long time.

Man, I thought it kind of blew.

Some of it was great though. But they certainly took the least riskiest out. Pretty boring.

i thought it was a great ending. i never would have guessed the killer, and that's the way it was suppose tobe. according to Rob Thomas, he had the killer written that way from the beginning. here's a pretty good interview, with a hint as what's coming up nest season.

Looks like it won't last beyond a second season now.

Be careful of what you ask for. “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas told Ain’t It Cool last month he wanted the timeslot after UPN’s top-rated show, “America’s Next Top Model.” He got it, but now “Mars” has to compete with ABC powerhouse “Lost”!

An awful move. UPN showed good faith in renewing the show despite bad ratings, but this is idiotic. If it wasn't doing well ratings-wise when it's only competition was One Tree Hill, it's dead in the water now.

i know i'm in the minority here, but there's no question that Veronica Mars is a much better show that Lost. Lost has squander a huge potential whereas Veronica Mars kept on it's course of great dialoge and steady plots, all the while running a season long story arc that actually came to a satisfying conclusion. i'll have no problem making that choice.

I'm actually rather relieved to have an excuse to stop watching Lost.

Oh, I completely agree. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people don't, and this gives a big chunk of new viewers who might've tuned in even less incentive to watch. Which is why it will be cancelled within a year.

Which really sucks, because Veronica Mars really is the better show.

the Television Critics Association nominations for the best new program:

ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" hit the trifecta in nominations for the 21st annual Television Critics Assn. Awards. "Housewives" and "Lost" both earned mentions in the categories of best new program, program of the year and in their respective comedy and drama program categories as well. Fox's "House," UPN's "Veronica Mars" and FX's "Rescue Me" rounded out the competition in the best new program heat. The TCA Awards will be presented July 23 at the Beverly Hilton in conjunction with the summer TCA press tour presented by the major broadcast and cable networks. Overall, "Housewives" led the nominees circle with a total of five bids. "Lost" and Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" earned four noms apiece. "Daily Show" earned a berth in the program of the year category, as did HBO's "Deadwood" and Fox's "Arrested Development."

i'm hoping they are smart enough to pick "Veronica Mars", but going up against the "DH" and "Lost" is a near impossible task. here's rooting for the underdog.

Edited. Had to fix that 'Veroika' shit in the title.

HOLY KOWLOON

Thank you. That was so annoying.

I'd also like to thank Nick for fixing that. It always annoyed the shit out of me, and many others I'm sure.

I'm glad that VM got nominated because I thought it was the best show on TV this past year, but I severely doubt it will win against such commercial faves like Desperate Housewives and Lost. Well, looking at the past winners maybe it does have a good chance, but I think that it's pretty much DH vs. Lost. I hope Kristen Bell wins for best Dramatic Performance, but I'm sure Ian McShane will repeat his win from last year.
