The Best of BOND; Let's get this over with

Yep.

My favorite TLD moment is using the cello case as a sled.
I've got good news and I've got bad news. The bad news is I've lost my way. The good news is I'm way ahead of schedule!

Wow--I had no idea Joe Don Baker's CIA character made a re-appearance in TND. It is kind of fun watching these Brosnan movies because I don't regularly watch them, so a lot of it I'm seeing for the first time (or at least I don't remember the first time I saw it).

I'll never understand why Jack Wade wasn't Felix Leiter.

Yeah exactly--did McClory invent Leiter's character as well? Lol. Leiter was even in TLD so it's not like he was something left over from the Connery/Moore movies. And something I noticed in Goldeneye--Bond does reference M's "predecessor". So at least there is an acknowledgement that this is not the same person as before.

I now understand Matt Gourley's comment about the "action face" that Brosnan puts on. It's wildly distracting now that I noticed it.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

I always liked Roger Moore's "OOF" sound that he makes while in a fistfight with a stronger opponent.

Wasn't "action face" more like the blue steel?

I always figured it was just trying to keep continuity with the events of LTK. Like Felix was removed from field work after being maimed.

Could be.

I've been waiting for this for something like 7 months.  It's unfortunately come at the most inopportune time but I had to get it NOW if I wanted to get it..the waiting list was too big and the watch would have gone to the next person if I'd passed on it.

That's pretty sweet!

It's number 6337 of 7007 watches. The timing could have been better, but I couldn't control when it came in or when it came my turn in the queue.

Beautiful watch!

Bee-yooo-teee-full! (imagine JW Pepper's voice)

I had DAD on, and my wife AND my son both said "What is that? It looks awful. Is that still Bond? It looks like a sci-fi movie." My wife even said, why are you watching this one if it's so bad? I said, you re-read collections of books and aren't some of those not so great but you still read them all anyway? She said she liked any story with the characters even if it's bad, and I said, yep you just answered for me.

Got to do the best thing today--go right into QOS after CR was over. Ending up watching the whole movie at one sitting. The movie isn't really bad--if you look at the grand scheme of the Craig Bonds, it was pretty much unnecessary except to tie up the loose end with Vesper's "boyfriend" and give us the name of Quantum. Which would end up being irrelevant anyway. It does further Leiter and Bond's relationship though, and it continues Bond's record of sleeping with at least one woman that ends up dying later on. Skyfall on tap for tonight/tomorrow.

That's absolutely the right way to watch both movies.

I know that QOS gets shit on a lot but a recent viewing of it makes me think that it's the best job of acting from Craig in one of the 4 Bond movies.  He has a lot to do in the film, especially in terms of body language and so forth.  To clarify, though: I don't think he's ever been 'bad' in a Bond film.

In my experience, watching QOS immediately after CR only highlighted how awful it was. If the filmmakers had stuck closer to the filmmaking style of CR, it MIGHT have played better, but it's such a different film it never works as a direct sequel or as a standalone installment. QOS veered way too much in the direction of Bourne with the rapid cutting and shakycam, which doesn't work for Bond. In the end it feels more like a low-rent Gerald Butler actioner that debuted on Rebox.

I'd still love to see somebody get access to the raw dailies and recut QUANTUM in a less obnoxious way.

I do get the attraction of watching it back-to-back with CASINO, though, because QUANTUM is really just a lengthy epilogue (at least as it relates to Bond's headspace and motivation).

Two movies I want raw footage of is QOS and SUICIDE SQUAD.

Someone in one of my FB groups pointed out that this mask from Halloween III: Season of the Witch can be seen in Octopussy.

I could totally see Conal Cochran as a Moore-era Bond villain.

I think that skull-mask design predates Halloween III. If I recall correctly, only the jack-o'lantern mask was an original creation.
